Marking a significant step towards cross-cultural understanding and legal awareness, MNLU, Mumbai, in conjunction with The Pro Bono Club, joined hands with The University of Arizona to host an enlightening session titled "The Rights of The Indigenous People." This virtual session took place on the 16th of May 2023. The session served as a virtual bridge, connecting legal enthusiasts and experts from diverse backgrounds to delve into the intricate topic of indigenous rights. Attendees had the privilege of engaging with insightful discussions, all while learning about the challenges and triumphs faced by indigenous communities. Two distinguished speakers led the session, First, Prof. Seanna Howard, Director of the International Human Rights Advocacy Workshop, brought her profound expertise to the fore. Her extensive experience in the realm of Human Rights Advocacy added depth and nuance to the discourse. Second, Vishal Gaikwad, a Judicial Science Candidate at the Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy Program, shared his insights derived from his immersive work in the field. His contributions brought a practical perspective to the theoretical aspects discussed. Through this collaborative effort, participants not only gained a comprehensive understanding of indigenous rights but also had the privilege of learning from experts with diverse viewpoints.
