Rabale Slum Visit

Ms. Hemangi Sawant, the coordinator for PCGT’s Kuchh Aur program was also present with our Pro Bono Team. On October 13 2023, at 2:30 pm a group of Pro Bono Associates along with PCGT team visited a place in Rabale, (Children of the World India, Rabale) a slum in Mumbai, to spread legal awareness. The main Aim of the visit was to educate the children about their fundamental rights, and the preamble of our constitution. The constitution of India empowers every citizen with Fundamental Rights along with Duties hence it is essential for a common man to know about it, but due to various reasons, the person is unaware about it. Here the role of the Pro Bono Club becomes very crucial as it makes hard efforts to spread legal awareness

In order to make the students feel at ease and build a connection with them, the Associates opened the session with a conversation and a quiz competition. Our colleagues next turned their attention to the session's main topic: teaching the Preamble, fundamental rights, and the Basic Constitution. The quiz competition was also well-attended by students, and the class was very participatory. The peers also informed the students of their legal rights as well as the remedies and assistance they are entitled to in situations in which such rights are violated.
